Our History

In January 2014, Hurricane Charley’s Raw Bar & Grill, Punta Gorda’s newest waterfront restaurant, opened in the Punta Gorda Waterfront Hotel on Charlotte Harbor. The sister restaurant to Dean’s South of the Border, Charley’s offers a full bar outside on the scenic HunkerDown Deck, where you see the best sunset views on Charlotte Harbor. Or dine indoors in the historic Jim Reif room, named after our South Florida-famous weather forecaster.

Hurricane Charley’s is more than a restaurant; it holds an historic view of the 2004 hurricane that devastated Charlotte Harbor. Our walls tell the story of a community effort to recover and triumph over the hurricane that leveled our city.

We invite you to stop by, meet our friendly staff and enjoy a premier dining experience at Hurricane Charley’s, overlooking Charlotte Harbor.

**Buses Welcome. We’re very happy to accommodate large groups.

For intimate private dining to parties hosting up to 500 people, our banquet rooms can service your party with ease. From “Simple to Simply Elegant“, we’ve been serving Charlotte County for over 30 years.

Reviewed Dec 15, 2017  We didn't have much because it was a late lunch but they served the best calamari I've ever had. Crispy, tasty, with a touch of fire. We also enjoyed the soup and salads, as well as a few rum punches. Matthew was outstanding, and a comedian to boot. Go here and have a blast.

Reviewed Dec 29, 2017  My family and I tried Hurricane Charley's for the first time a few weeks ago and I would say that we will be going back! The sushi is really good and the homemade bread is even better!

Reviewed Dec 21, 2017  We rode our borrowed bikes from Fisherman's Village into town. Stopped at Hurricane Charlie's on the Harbor path for lunch. I had a pulled pork sandwich and Kathy had a mushroom Swiss burger. Both were excellent with Sweet Potato fries! Burger was a good size-could be eaten at one sitting! Pork was very good (sweet barbecue) but huge! I send a fork!
