Our History

In January 2014, Hurricane Charley’s Raw Bar & Grill, Punta Gorda’s newest waterfront restaurant, opened in the Punta Gorda Waterfront Hotel on Charlotte Harbor. The sister restaurant to Dean’s South of the Border, Charley’s offers a full bar outside on the scenic HunkerDown Deck, where you see the best sunset views on Charlotte Harbor. Or dine indoors in the historic Jim Reif room, named after our South Florida-famous weather forecaster.

Hurricane Charley’s is more than a restaurant; it holds an historic view of the 2004 hurricane that devastated Charlotte Harbor. Our walls tell the story of a community effort to recover and triumph over the hurricane that leveled our city.

We invite you to stop by, meet our friendly staff and enjoy a premier dining experience at Hurricane Charley’s, overlooking Charlotte Harbor.

**Buses Welcome. We’re very happy to accommodate large groups.

For intimate private dining to parties hosting up to 500 people, our banquet rooms can service your party with ease. From “Simple to Simply Elegant“, we’ve been serving Charlotte County for over 30 years.

Reviewed October 21 GOOD FOOD & DRINK   Named for the disastrous hurricane Charley that hit here in 2004, this is a popular stop in Punta Gorda. We had drinks and eats here on a visit with friends. Several unique appetizer dishes are served and all were very good. My wife particularly liked the shrimp and grits dish. I liked the spicy chicken strips. Worth the stop.

Reviewed Oct 17, 2017GREAT WATERFRONT BAR & RESTAURANT!   This place is a great waterfront bar and restaurant with an extensive menu of New Orleans favorites and some outstanding sushi selections. It Is a very comfortable laid back atmosphere that serves fairly late and had some good live music playing on a Sunday night. I enjoyed it very much and would certainly return.
